Beijing Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd. (formerly known as Beijing Railway Engineering Corporation) was founded in 1953. On December 18, 2001, it was renamed as Beijing Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd. after the enterprise system reform according to the "Corporation Law". With a registered capital of ??158,180,000RMB, the Group is a highly aggregate one in which railway engineering construction and public building construction take the leading place, integrating scientific research, design, project development, construction, commerce & trade, tourism & accommodation service, real estate development, property management, and foreign project operation, etc. as a whole. The Group has 1271 technical staff specialized in various fields, and has strong advantages in technology, capital, and equipment. It is a first class construction enterprise approved by the Ministry of Construction, and is awarded the qualification of foreign project contracting and management by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation. The Group has been continually rated as one of the 500 largest scale construction enterprises with the best economic performance since 1991, and has been graded as an enterprise with AAA credit status by Beijing Yinjian Credit Evaluation Office for 13 years. On November 30, 1998, the Group was certified to ISO9002: International Quality Standard System. Moreover, it has been issued the national & international dual certificates by CNACR and UKAS quality systems. Furthermore, the quality-environment-safety integral system has been put into testing operation recently, and will pass the certification before long.
The Group can independently undertake various engineering projects, including railway, highway, bridge, tunnel, house building, municipal construction, urban rail transport, power supply, communication, signal, electrification, etc. Furthermore, the Group has accumulated plentiful advanced construction technology and testing measures. It has a first-class Measuring & Testing Center certified by China State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. The Group has a construction ability of more than ??1.5 billion Yuan. For the past 50 years, the Group has participated in a great variety of main-line railway construction projects, such as Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Shanhaiguan, Beijing-Qinhuangdao, Tianjin-Shanghai, Beijing-Baotou, Shijiazhuang-Dezhou, Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan, Fengtai-Shacheng, Chongqing-Guiyang, Zhicheng-Liuzhou, Chengdu-Kunming, and Zhuzhou-Guiyang railway lines. Since the 1990s, the Group has undertaken the reconstruction of Beijing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang railway pivots and the construction of Beijing-Kowloon railway line and Beijing West Railway Station. Besides, the Group also participated in the speed-raising reconstruction project on five key railway lines of Beijing-Guangzhou, Tianjin-Shanghai, Beijing-Qinhuangdao, Beijing-Shanhaiguan, and Beijing-Kowloon. Nevertheless, the Group also exerted its strength over some other kinds of large or medium scale projects, such as the construction of hotel, hospital, multistoried building, memorial, building complex, expressway, and cloverleaf junction, etc.

The pass rate of hand-over inspection for all kinds of works completed by the Group reaches 100%, and the rate of excellent & good projects finished has always been maintained over 90%. For years, 3 national top quality project prizes, 12 best quality project prizes of the Ministry of Railways and Beijing City, 1 "Great Wall Cup" project of Beijing City, 6 prizes of National Science & Technology Progress and Achievement, and 3 State Patents (one of which is awarded the gold medal on the 10-year-achievement Exhibition of China Patent), have been awarded to the Group.
On June 18, 2002, Beijing Railway Construction Group was formally registered and founded, and the frame of the Group was completed then.
