Xiamen Airlines was founded on July 25th, 1984. At that time, it was the first airline in China organized as a business enterprise. Its two shareholders are China Southern Airlines Company Limited and Xiamen C & D Inc. with 60% and 40% shares respectively. The founding of Xiamen Airlines was a result of CAAC's management system reform.
